Imagine combining a breakfast burrito with sausage and gravy – now you have amazing keto breakfast tacos! And only 5 grams net carbs each.
What Are Breakfast Tacos
Imagine your favorite dish of biscuits and gravy, but replace the biscuits with keto-friendly tortillas. When you do, you have keto breakfast tacos!
In order to fortify them and make them extra filling, I added some scrambled eggs to the tortillas and topped them with chopped green onions and as much shredded cheddar cheese as I wanted.
Breakfast is about to become your favorite meal of the day!
Shopping List
Before you make these keto breakfast tacos, this is what you’ll need from the store. All of the exact ingredient amounts are in the printable recipe card at the bottom of this post.
- Zero Carb Keto Tortillas
- Natural Ground Breakfast Sausage
- Heavy Whipping Cream
- Shredded Cheddar Cheese
- Eggs
- Chopped Green Onions
Sausage Breakfast Tacos
To make the sausage tacos, use your favorite breakfast sausage. Mild or spicy will both work perfectly – use your favorite spice-level.
You can also change the type of cheese that you add to the tacos, too! If you want to kick up the heat, shred some pepper jack cheese instead of cheddar cheese and some jalapenos will taste delicious on the tacos, too.
Best Keto Tortilla
What are the best low-carb tortillas to buy? You’ll want to pay close attention to the ingredient list.
La Banderita Carb Counters tortillas are my favorite kind to use. Mission brand is my favorite of all time!
You can usually find zero-carb tortillas from them. For this recipe, use small or street-taco sized tortillas.
The Keto Tortilla Company also makes some delicious tortillas that will keep you within your macro limits.
What To Eat For Breakfast On Keto
What do you like to eat for breakfast when you eat low-carb? Eggs are a popular choice, but you don’t have to eat just eggs.
If you want something sweet, eat some low-carb lime frosted coconut bars. For something savory, make some keto everything bagel bites.
Or go with classic choices. You can never go wrong with low-carb pancakes or keto “apple” hand pies. If you need something quick and portable, make egg loaf french toast sticks.
Storing Them
I don’t recommend storing the keto breakfast tacos after you add the filling and topping to the tortillas. Keep toppings in individual containers.
Then, just heat them up and add them to the tortillas. That’s the easiest way to eat the leftovers.
I don’t recommend freezing the creamy sausage mixture. It’s just easier to brown the sausage and add the heavy cream and it tastes a lot better when you make it fresh.
