Juicy, tender, and infused with earthy herbs, slow cooker turkey breasts are the easiest way to prepare turkey for your family.
Is Turkey Keto
Yes, turkey is a low-carb, keto-friendly protein. The only things that would make it not keto-friendly would be if you breaded it or if you filled it with stuffing from breadcrumbs.
Even if you used breadcrumb stuffing, it could still be low-carb; you would have to remove the stuffing and not eat it.
In fact, there are 0 grams net carbs in each serving of turkey.
Slow Cooker Turkey Breasts
One of the most common issues with cooking turkey is how dry it becomes as it roasts. When you use a slow cooker to cook just the turkey breasts, they come out fork-tender and bursting with savory juices.
The secret to juicy slow cooker turkey breasts is to cook them in chicken broth. If you can make your own chicken broth, even better! You can use vegetable broth instead of chicken broth in a pinch.
Whether you use a slow cooker liner or not is up to you. If you choose not to, I suggest spraying the slow cooker down with non-stick spray first.
Herb Butter Turkey Breast
If at all possible, always try to use fresh herbs. It’s ok to use dried herbs, though, if that’s all you have. In addition to poultry seasoning, add some sage, rosemary, and thyme too.
Be generous with how much garlic you use. It’s a simple way to really pump up the flavor and aromas of the turkey.
Do you have to use turkey breast? No, you can carve up a turkey and cook it in the slow cooker in pieces if you want. The reason I love to cook turkey breast is because it’s easier, and I don’t have to carve it later.
Plus, it cooks quicker. This recipe only takes five hours.
Thanksgiving Turkey Breast
If you wanted to, you could make this turkey breast ahead of time and then rewarm it in the slow cooker right before dinnertime.
Just store it in an airtight food storage container in the refrigerator for about three or four days. Keep it covered in the broth and spices.
What To Eat With Turkey
Turkey tastes delicious with any side dish that you want to make! I like to serve this with some low carb mushroom and spinach cauliflower rice. It will also taste perfect with some keto Italian bread sticks that you can dunk into the herby broth.
You can even use leftover cooked turkey breast in a keto turkey pot pie recipe later on in the week. It’s a wonderful way to reuse it in a new way.
