Sweet and flavorful low-carb honey garlic shrimp skewers are perfect cookout food or a simple dinner. Pack them in your meal prep, too!
Honey Garlic Shrimp
If you like your food to be bursting with flavor, then this is the perfect recipe for you! The colossal shrimp is perfectly juicy and every bite is an explosion of sweet, earthy, and citrus flavors.
If you marinate them overnight, the shrimp is soak up all the flavors and taste even better after you cook them.
You can make them in either the oven or on the grill. In this recipe I’ll show you how to bake them. But if you grill them, just watch them closely.
Shrimp only take about 5 minutes on the grill before they are completely cooked.
Keto Honey Shrimp
The best thing about this shrimp is the sticky-sweet flavors from the honey. Sugar-free honey tastes just like regular honey, but it won’t affect your blood sugar and doesn’t have any carbs!
You can use it as a 1:1 replacement for honey. I used it in my keto honey butter chicken and it tastes just like the entree from my favorite Chinese restaurant.
Keto Shrimp Skewers
Whether you grill or bake the skewers, you need to prep them before you use them, otherwise they will burn. Soak your bamboo skewers in water before you add the shrimp onto them.
Don’t forget to let the shrimp marinate overnight. If you do forget, at least try to marinate them for an hour. The longer they marinate, the more flavors they will have.
Keto Garlic Shrimp
Fully cooked shrimp skewers will stay fresh in the refrigerator for up to three days. I suggest removing them from the skewers and putting them in an airtight container.
Then, you can eat them cold, heat them up and add them to some homemade keto ramen, or add them on top of your favorite mixed salad.
What To Eat With Shrimp
Since it has both honey and garlic, I like to eat this shrimp with other Asian-inspired recipes, like keto loaded cauliflower rice balls on the side. Or stick with the traditional idea and serve this on top of some keto cauliflower rice.
Of course, Egg roll in a bowl is another perfect side dish too. It’s mild and kids love it, plus it really tastes like an egg roll.
It’s a really filling side dish that you can eat as a main course, so keep that in mind when you make it. If you’re making these shrimp skewers at a cookout, make some keto egg salad on the side.
Everyone loves egg salad!
