Perfect for keto dieters and anyone that isn’t counting carbs, low-carb kielbasa and sauerkraut is tasty and filling!
What Is Kielbasa
It comes from Poland, which is why kielbasa is also called Polish sausage. It’s a u-shaped smoked meat that is made from pork shoulder.
It comes in a variety of different flavors and spice levels. Polish sausage is always keto-friendly because it’s made without any sugar or carbohydrate fillers.

Best Sausage For Sauerkraut
It has a distinctly tangy flavor, but what kind of meat goes well with sauerkraut? Pork is traditionally cooked with this jarred cabbage. You can use pork chops, pork loin, or any type of smoked sausage.
Try it with some whole or sliced bratwurst for an entirely different taste and experience.
What To Eat With Kielbasa
Since this dinner has such a powerful flavor, I suggest serving it with mild sides. Keto radish salad is tasty but won’t overpower the kielbasa skillet meal.
Or add some keto everything bagel bites to the table, along with some ham and pickle roll ups. The flavors of both of those recipes go well with kielbasa sausage.
Storage
This is the perfect meal to make ahead. It stores perfectly in the refrigerator and is super-easy to reheat on the stove, in the microwave, or even in the air fryer.
How To Meal Prep
Store it in an airtight food storage container. Keep it in the refrigerator for up to three days.
How To Freeze
Store it in a freezer-safe bag or container. It will stay fresh in the freezer for up to six months.
How To Reheat
Here’s how to reheat it when you’re ready to eat it again.
- Microwave – cover with a paper towel or loose lid and heat on high for 1-3 minutes.
- Stove – reheat in a skillet over medium heat for about 5 minutes. You might have to add a little bit of butter to the skillet to prevent it from sticking.
- Air Fryer – Place some aluminum foil in the air fryer basket and heat at 300F for about 10 minutes. This method will dry out the sauerkraut the most.
