The perfect appetizer or snack! Keto crack sausage balls are filled with rich cream cheese and topped with crispy bacon.
Keto Sausage Balls
I love making keto crack recipes. They usually involve some combination of cream cheese and bacon. Lots of food bloggers and cooks/chefs use the term crack to describe how addicting the recipes are.
There’s something alluring about cream cheese, spices, and bacon. Each sausage ball only has 5 grams net carbs, so you can indulge in a few of them.
Since these sausage balls are made with both Italian sausage and cream cheese, it only takes a few of them to fill you up.
I like to eat them at parties when Im surrounded by lots of tempting food that would throw me out of ketosis. It’s a lot easier to turn those foods down when I’m full.
Crack Sausage Balls
One of the best things about these crack sausage balls is that they stick together without having to use wheat flour. They are naturally gluten-free and high in protein.
Remember to use blanched almond flour, not almond meal. Almond meal will make the balls taste too grainy and it won’t be as tasty.
Sausage Meatballs
You have a bit of flexibility when it comes to the type of sausage that you use in the sausage balls. If you want them to tasty spicy, use some spicy sausage and add some red pepper flakes to the mixture.
My kids don’t like spicy foods, so I usually make our sausage balls with mild breakfast sausage.
Always read ingredient labels, even on bacon and sausage. Don’t use meat that is sweetened or that includes any type of maple syrup or sugar in the ingredients label. (They can be sneaky!).
Sausage Balls With Bacon
You don’t need to use an entire pack of bacon for this recipe. I only used about 1/2 a cup of chopped bacon. Save the rest of the bacon and use it in some chicken salad.
I used shredded cheddar cheese because it has a neutral flavor that pairs really well with cream cheese and sausage. But feel free to use some shredded pepperjack cheese or even parmesan cheese.
What To Eat With Meatballs
Deciding what to eat with them depends on when you’re serving them. If you’re going to serve them as a snack during a football game party, then add some keto everything bagel bites to the table too.
Keto ham and pickle roll-ups are popular party food too! Plus, they use cream cheese, just like the sausage balls. So they taste great together.
