Irresistibly creamy and tangy, cottage cheese chicken salad is so tasty you’ll want to make it every day. It’s easy and budget-friendly too.

    Cottage Cheese Chicken Salad

    What Is Chicken Salad

It’s one of the most popular keto lunch ideas. Chicken salad is a meat-based salad that usually has some kind of creamy dressing on it. There are a huge variety of different ways to make chicken salad.

    Cottage Cheese Chicken Salad

There are a huge variety of different ways to make chicken salad. From the super-simple to the complicated and all the in between, this is one of the most versatile types of salad that you can make.

People on the keto diet love chicken salad because it’s so filling and so budget-friendly. It’s a great way to use leftover chicken. But you can also make it with canned chicken, which lasts a long time in your pantry.

This chicken salad is unlike anything else on We Want To Eat. The dressing is made with cottage cheese, which adds a tangy taste that you’re going to love!

    Shopping List

Before you make your keto cottage cheese chicken salad, this is what you’ll need from the store. All of the exact ingredient amounts are in the printable recipe card at the bottom of this post.

    Cottage Cheese Chicken Salad Ingredients

    • Shredded Chicken
    • Cottage Cheese
    • Red Onion
    • Celery
    • Mayonnaise
    • Dijon Mustard
    • Chopped Walnuts
    • Chopped Green Onions

    Ingredient Substitutions

There are a few ways that you can change things in this recipe to save yourself time or to make it taste differently the next time. If you make any changes, please let me know. I’d love to hear!

    Cottage Cheese Chicken Salad

    • Red Onion – any type of onion will taste delicious
    • Celery – this adds texture, but you can leave it out
    • Dijon Mustard – swap with your favorite (sugar-free) mustard. Try it with spicy mustard.
    • Walnuts – Any other type of chopped nuts will taste great – try it with almonds or pecans.

    Best Chicken For Salad

As long as the chicken is shredded, you can use any type of chicken meat in this salad. If you have any leftover cooked chicken, shred it and eat it in this salad. If you don’t, then grab a rotisserie chicken from the store.

    Cottage Cheese Chicken Salad

I like to keep canned chicken in my pantry and use it in recipes like this one. If you use canned chicken, I suggest draining it really well first. That way it won’t make the dressing runny.

What To Eat With Chicken Salad

This is a deliciously filling lunch, so I suggest adding some lighter keto sides with it. Keto zucchini ribbons are topped with bacon and have a bold flavor.

If you need more protein, munch on these filling keto crack sausage balls. For a light filling lunch serve this chicken salad with soup.

Creamy TikTok Ramen is fantastic with the chicken salad. Or switch up the flavors and make Instant Pot zuppa toscana soup.

It’s a classic Italian soup that tastes just like the kind from Olive Garden.

    Storing It

I love to make chicken salad for my meal prep. It’s ready when you are. Store leftover chicken salad in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days.

    Cottage Cheese Chicken Salad

I do not recommend freezing chicken salad. It changes the texture too much.

    Making It

Here are the step-by-step pictures of the process that you’ll follow to make this filling and delicious keto cottage cheese chicken salad recipe. All of the ingredients and instructions are located in the printable recipe card just a little bit further below.
