What Is Chicken Cordon Bleu
It’s also called a schnitzel cordon bleu. This dish involves wrapping meat around cheese, breading it, and frying it. The result is a cheesy, crispy-fried delicious meal.
Chicken cordon bleu is basically chicken that is wrapped around both ham and cheese and then coated with crunchy breadcrumbs. Then, it’s baked until it is golden brown. It’s juicy, cheesy, and crispy. Talk about the most iconic comfort food ever!
Chicken Cordon Bleu Casserole
It’s really easy to deconstruct chicken cordon bleu and turn it into a tasty casserole. Just take the main ingredients – the chicken and ham – and chop them up. Cover them with a creamy cheesy sauce and a crunchy topping.
Since breadcrumbs are a no-go on the keto diet, use crushed pork rind crumbs instead.

There are a few different tweaks you can make to this recipe if you need to. The first thing you can change is the cheese. Use spicier cheese for more flavor, or replace the swiss cheese with provolone (if your kids don’t like the strong swiss taste).
You can also bake chicken thighs instead of chicken breasts. Chicken thighs are juicier, so they make the entire dish a lot tastier.
To save time, just shred up a rotisserie chicken! This is also a great way to use leftover ham. Just make sure you don’t use glazed ham.
Baked Chicken Cordon Bleu
You can also make this taste casserole in your air fryer, as long as you have a large enough air fryer. You need one that will fit an entire casserole dish inside of it.
If you do, then just air fryer it at the same time and temperature as it says in the recipe card.
This is also really filling and easy to add to your meal prep for the week. Store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days.
Chicken Cordon Bleu Sides
This is a satisfying main dish for your family or yourself. It has creamy and mild flavors, so add your favorite salads and keto breadsticks to the side.
Loaded cauliflower mash is perfect with all the flavors in the casserole. Add some bacon and cheese biscuits to the side along with it. Dip them into the cheesy sauce – yum!
